Alexis Nelson spent the last two years as the Executive Director of the Vermont Association of Snow Travelers, Inc (VAST), a private non-profit organization responsible for the management of the Statewide Snowmobile Trails Program. She provided strategic and operational leadership managing multi-fund budgets. She worked collaboratively with federal and state agencies in securing funds, obtaining regulatory permits and forging partnerships with the motorized and non-motorized recreational communities. Her areas of expertise include policy development and implementation, planning and collaboration across multiple user groups.



Among her significant previous positions, she served as the Trails Administrator of VAST for 10+ years, working with 129 local snowmobile clubs, providing guidance and support in trail development, maintenance and permitting. Other notable positions include; Chair of the International Association of Snowmobile Administrators (IASA), Chair of the Northeast Chapter of the IASA, Director of the Vermont Trails & Greenways Council as well as Treasurer of the Vermont Trails & Greenways Council.



Alexis Nelson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Resources Management from the University of Montana and graduated from the New York State Ranger School and the Vermont Leadership Institute. She currently resides in the Green Mountains of Vermont with her husband and two children.
