Race Points Rules for 20132013 EC4WDA Region C Point System
1. Points
Participants must be a member of EC4WDA.
The breakdown will be as follows:
First – 3 points
Second – 2 points
Third – 1 point
These points are awarded for sanctioned races by the EC4WDA Region C members at the March meeting prior to the race season.
2. Participation Points
One (1) point per race earned by registered competitor.
Three (3) points for 100% participation at the end of the season in addition to points awards per event.
Participation is defined as bringing the car to the starting line in the first round of competition for those competing in drags, to the base of the hill for the hill climb, and to the starting line of the obstacle course. The driver need not compete the run to receive the participation point. Points are per weekend and not per event, participation in one event will qualify the driver for this point. If an event is cancelled, all those registered for the event at the time of cancellation will be considered to have participated.
3. Definition of Events
DRAGS – any event that pits 2 competitors against each other in a straight-line acceleration contest on an EC4WDA drag strip. The winner is to be determined by the one that crosses the finish line first, without reference to elapsed time in sanctioned class.
HILL CLIMB – any event on a uphill grade where the winner is determined by either the quickest elapsed time, or through process of elimination whereby succeeding attempts by single competitors eliminates the rest of the class until one (1) competitor remains.
OBSTACLE COURSE – any non-straight line event where the winner is determined by either the elapsed time or, in the event of a match race, by competitor who crosses the finish line first.
4. Awards
A. Event – Open and Women
Top 3 Competitors in Drags
Top 3 Competitors in Hill Climb
Top 3 Competitors in Obstacle
B. Overall Award
1. Points from all the sanctioned will be calculated to determine overall winners in open and women’s competition.
2. At the time of registration, participants must designate the car in which they will be competing. If a participant drives a different vehicle for drags, hill or obstacle, they must register the other vehicle with the points people so that there are no misunderstandings.
C. Point Awards
1. The top three (3) drivers in each class, in each sanctioned event, drags, hill climb and obstacle will earn points.
2. In case of a force bump to another class, the car being bumped automatically receives one (1) point as long as the driver can make it to the starting line and will also accumulate any class win points.
3. In the case that a driver competes in 2 or more cars in separate events (i.e. one for drags and hill climb and a different one for obstacle) the driver receives points for each of the registered competitions.
D. Club Participation Trophy
Club participation trophy will be awarded to the club with the highest percentage of people participating overall in the sanctioned and the authorized bracket races. The overall percentages will be tallied for each race. At the end of the race season, the percentages from each club will be averaged together. The club with the highest averaged percentage will receive the club participation trophy.
E. Rookie of the Year
This award is open to all of Region C new participants. This person must exhibit qualifications of the sport to include: Enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and dedication to the sport. Participants must compete in 50% of Region C sanctioned races and have no more than three (3) prior races. All Region C competitors meeting these qualifications will be considered for Rookie of the Year (excludes Junior Racers). Club Presidents should let the Points people know of any competitor to consider.
F. 100% Participation
Award will be given to each competitor that participates in 100% of the Region C sanctioned races.
G. Tie Breakers
All ties will broken as follows:
1. Number of first places
2. Number of second places
3. Number of third places
If none of these factors can break the tie, duplicate awards will be given.
5. Awards Fund
A. 1.00 per event fee to be paid by all competing EC4WDA members at each sanctioned and authorized bracket race.
B. A $50.00 per race trophy fee t be paid by each sponsoring club.
C. Drivers must race 50% of the Region C sanctioned races to qualify for points awards.
6. General Rules
A. Any problems that may arise under this system will be clarified as needed by the Points Chairperson, subject to the approval of the Region C Chairperson.
B. If an event (drags, hill climb, obstacle) cannot be completed due to unforeseen circumstances, NO points will be awarded for that event only.
C. Each sponsoring club is responsible for entering the event results on forms provided and forwarding them to the points chairperson, either in person or by certified mail. If sent by mail, they must be postmarked no later than one (1) week following the race. IF THE RESULTS AND MONEY ARE NOT RECEIVED WITHIN ONE (1) WEEK, THE POINTS CHAIR WILL CALL AND GIVE THE CLUB A DATE THE RESULTS AND MONEY NEED TO BE IN HER/HIS HANDS. IF THE RESULTS AND MONEY ARE STILL NOT RECEIVED, THE VIOLATING CLUB WILL BE FINED $100.00. If a club refuses to pay the fine, NO points will be awarded for that race until the fine is paid.
7. Rules, Violations and Disqualifications
Any driver found to be illegal by the Rules Chairperson, or by any representative of the Rules Committee, will lose all points accumulated at that point in time, subject to their reinstatement in the event the Rules Chairperson or Committee reverses a previous erroneous decision.
If at all possible, at the sanctioned races, give Karen Reinhardt or Cathy Burcham the results and money before they leave.
